Elemental Surf Academy is just five minutes’ walk from iconic Fistral Beach, the home of British surfing. You will be riding the waves in no time!
Our experienced instructors will make it fun to learn to surf and bodyboard – all are DBS-checked and NGB-certified. They can tailor your lesson to your skill level – perfect for beginners and improvers as well as experienced surfers looking to hone their technique.
Boards and wetsuits are available to hire, and our expert team will help you find the perfect kit for your skill level as well as the local conditions.
Fistral is a great place to learn, as the Atlantic swell creates reliable waves all year round. Whether you’re new to surfing or refining your technique, we’ll set you up for success.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Should I bodyboard before learning to surf?
Not necessarily – but trying bodyboarding first can help you understand waves and build your confidence in the water.
How many lessons will I need?
We recommend having a private lesson and then practicing in the afternoon, followed by another lesson the next day, and so on.
How far are you from Fistral?
We are a five-to ten-minute walk from Fistral beach, depending on the length of your legs…
What is the age limit?
Depends on the individual, but we’ve taught surfers aged from 8 to 88.
Do you take non-swimmers?
Yes! You will always have a qualified instructor with you and all beginner lessons take place in waist-depth water.
What should we bring?
Please bring swimming gear, a towel and suncream.
Do you provide accommodation too?
Yes! You can book a stay with us at Elemental Surf Lodge, where guests can enjoy discounted surf lessons and free wetsuit hire.
